The AVF (Accueil des Villes Française) is a French, national organisation established to help newcomers to an area (French and foreign) find the information and social integration they may need. There are branches throughout France in most of the larger towns. Many arrange activities including conversation classes, arts and crafts and children's holiday activities. The AVF can provide practical help and information on the area, in French, and occasionally in English too.
AVF in Lyon and the Rhône ValleyThere are many AVF branches in Lyon and the Rhône Valley, including in St-Etienne, Valence, Roanne, Ste-Foy-lès-Lyon and Villefranche-sur-Saône.
L'Accueil InternationalL'Accueil International is the international section of AVF Lyon-Rhône. Their main purpose is to assist foreigners moving to Lyon for professional reasons, as well as French returning from abroad, to adapt to their new way of life in Lyon. An international team of volunteers, both foreigners and French, are there to welcome, inform and suggest various activities to enable those moving to Lyon to quickly establish new friends and relationships.
